UAE to lift visa ban on Nigerians soon – Keyamo

  The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, says authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government will soon lift the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travellers.    Keyamo, during a 44-minute interview with the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu, Otega Ogra, published on the official YouTube page of the State House of Nigeria, said a resolution has been reached between President Bola Tinubu, and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during President Tinubu’s working visit to the UAE in September 2023.   According to him, although the UAE had initially listed additional processes to be met before the ban could be officially lifted, the Nigerian government has since completed all processes, paving the way for an imminent announcement from the UAE government.   “After that high-level meeting, Mr. President, credited to him, made things very easy for us all. Drug barons are recruiting customs officers and staff of bonded terminals – CGC Adeniyi

  The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has revealed that drug barons are  increasingly recruiting customs officers and officials of bonded terminals into their trafficking operations in order to evade security checks.    Officers and men of the NCS, Tincan Island Port Command, had intercepted a large consignment of illicit drugs, including Cannabis Indica weighing 1,072kg, from Canada and India.   Briefing newsmen on the major seizure at the weekend, Adeniyi emphasised that those involved would face severe legal consequences.   Adeniyi said that the NCS had made significant progress in identifying such corrupt elements within and outside the service who facilitated the movement of drug consignments without proper examination.    During the press briefing, Adeniyi displayed approximately N4.2bn worth of seized hemp, highlighting that the NCS was intensifying its scrutiny on the activities of “unscrupulous customs officers” to eliminate them from

Delta monarch confers chieftaincy title on 12-year-old boy who killed white rabbit while hunting in the bush

The title of “Ogbuchai” was conferred on a twelve-year-old-boy, Abel Ekene at the palace of the revered monarch of Akumazi Kingdom in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume.     Ekene received the honour from the king after he killed a white rabbit while hunting in the bush, Ika Weekly Newspaper reported.      According to tradition in the community, anyone who kills a white rabbit/white animal would be recognised by the royal father.     Bestowing the title on Master Abel on June 5, the monarch congratulated him and urged him to continue with his good conduct among his peers and always respect his parents and elders in the community.     Speaking to the publication, Ekene said he is truly happy with his new position, saying that he will do his best to uphold the good name of his family.    

Police arrest armed robbers who gang-raped three women in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and serial rapists in Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.  The spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, wo disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, June 16, 2024, said the suspects, Chukwuma Diji and Micheal Edochie, gang raped a married woman and two other ladies during operations in Abagana community.  The PPRO added that two locally made double barrel guns, one locally made single barrel gun and six live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.  “In the early hours of 15/6/2024 Police Operatives attached to Abagana division arrested two serial offenders wanted on a case of alleged rape and armed robbery, recover two locally made double barrel guns, one locally made single barrel gun, six live cartridges, and one Q link motorcycle,” the statement read.  “The suspects are Chukwuma Diji ‘M’ AKA Sympathy or Chi-boy aged 35years of Obinagu Umudun Village, Abagana, and Micheal Edochie
