  With the fourth and final round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying tournament drawing to a close this week, the stage is finally set for the women’s football tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympics this summer. Nigeria and Zambia were the last two teams to qualify, as they beat South Africa and Morocco respectively in their final ties.   Former President Donald Trump during his presidency said he believed Ukraine “must be part of Russia,” his former adviser Fiona Hill reportedly said in a new book—statements that seemingly echo Russian President Vladimir Putin’s views as Trump-aligned Republicans in Congress continue to block additional U.S. aid to Ukraine.   The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has said that Idris Okuneye, aka Bobriksy, will be kept in a male cell after he was sentenced to 6 months in jail for Naira mutilation.   A spokesperson for the Correctional Service in Lagos noted that the crossdresser identified as a male when being questioned in court, which influenced their decision to place him in a male-designated facility. Bobrisky has continuously insisted that he identifies as female and claims he has undergone gender reassignment surgery. This led to concerns about his safety in jail due to his gender preference.Reacting, correctional officers assured that Bobrisky would be adequately protected from potential harm. Western diplomats have mounted pressure on China to prevent Iran from escalating tensions in the Middle East with a direct retaliatory strike against Israel.   Cross Dresser, Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky was today April 12 sentenced to six months imprisonment without option of fine by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos.    While appearing before the court, Bobrisky was asked about his gender. Responding, he identified as Male.  While delivering his judgement, the presiding judge held that sentencing Bobrisky to prison for abusing the Nigerian Currency will serve as deterrence to others fond of abusing the Naira.   Bobrisky was subsequently sentenced to serve his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Center

Container falls on a car in Lagos, kills passenger while driver escaped unhurt

  A fully loaded 40ft Mack articulated truck today, April 12, fell on a Nissan Car (ABJ 692 BG) and instantly killed a woman at the rear of the car while the car driver survived unhurt with support by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Officials by N.N.P.C inward Estate, Alapere, Lagos.   The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement released, confirmed that the driver of the Mack articulated truck with his motor-boy ran away immediately the fatal accident occurred.   He said preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the Mack articulated 40ft fully loaded container, while on a high speed lost control as a result of a brake failure and rammed into a moving Nissan car on motion by N.N.P.C inward Alapere, Ogudu along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Lagos.   The evacuated dead body of the woman has been handed over to Police men from Alapere Police Station.

Anam boat mishap: Movie producer, Adanma Luke voluntarily submits herself to the police Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie actor Jnr Pope was featuring in before he and four others met their untimely death in Anam  river,  has turned herself in to the police.    In a chat with LIB, the spokesperson of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said Adanma voluntarily turned herself in to the police on Thursday, April 11 and wrote a statement.  Ikenga also told LIB that two boat operators have been arrested and are in police custody in connection with the unfortunate incident, while other members of the cast and crew of the movie, will be invited for questioning.He assured that nothing would be swept under the carpet with regards to the incident.

The Six Months sentence is a punitive option of the Sentencing Guidelines. S.21 of CBN Act states a minimum of Six months in jail or 50k in fine or both. The option of a 50k fine would have been sufficient for a first-time offender who struck a plea bargain. Boko Haram kills 27 fishermen in Cameroon At least 27 fishermen were killed and four others abducted by the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, popularly known as Boko Haram terrorist group, in the fringes of Lake Chad in the border between Cameroon and Nigeria.   The terrorists, suspected to be from the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, on Sunday, April 7, attacked a local fishing community harbouring most fishermen from Nigeria at Island Kofiya near Darak in the Republic of Cameroon.   Intelligence sources according Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, revealed that the terrorists ordered the victims to lie down, tied their hands behind their backs before they started slaughtering them. The sources said the terrorists also abducted four other fishermen after accusing them of spying for the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) faction. Channels TV reporter kidnapped in Port Harcourt

  Channels Television reporter in Rivers State, Joshua Rogers, has been kidnapped.    According to The Nation, Rogers was whisked away to an unknown place by gunmen who stormed his residence in Rumuosi in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Thursday, 9pm.  The reporter was driving his official Channels Television branded car when the hoodlums pointed a gun at him and took him away in the same vehicle. Rogers was said to be returning from his official assignment in Government House after a trip to Andoni for a government event when the incident happened.   The gunmen were said to have contacted his wife and demanded a N30million ransom for his release.   His cameraman confirmed the incident and appealed to his abductors to set him free unconditionally.

The Presidential candidate of people Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election,  Atiku Abubakar  The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the Minister of Works , Dave Umahi over comments about the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project.   He described as a highway to fraud the claim by Umahi, that the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will cost N15.6 trillion. In a statement signed by his Media Office, in Abuja, on Thursday, April 11, Atiku blasted Umahi for altering the initial plan of the project after Gilbert Chagoury’s Hitech had been awarded the contract without any competitive bidding. He said,  “Umahi had announced that the project would be fully funded by Hitech, and based on this, there was no competitive bidding. He (Umahi) then turned around to say that Hitech could only raise just 6% of the money for the pilot phase. This smacks of deceit.” According to the statement, Umahi had during his media r
