Facebook users with 5k followers in Nigeria, Ghana to earn money from July 1

Social media giant, Meta has announced that Nigerian and Ghanaian content creators with 5, 000 followers can henceforth earn money on Facebook starting from July 1, 2024. This was as the company rolled out monetization features, In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels on Monday. According to a statement released by Meta, the two features will enable creators to earn money for crafting original videos and cultivating community. It also said that eligible creators in both countries will be able to earn money for their video and reels content, with support in over 30 languages globally. The statement reads: “To use either product, creators must pass and remain compliant with Facebook’s partnership monitasation policies and content monetization policies and they must be at least 18 years old. “Additionally, for in-stream ads creators must meet certain requirements such as having a minimum of 5,000 followers.” Commenting on the rollout, Global Partnerships Lead, Africa, Middle E

A Nigerian mother from a village has grabbed the  hearts   of many on social media when a video appeared of her riding her bike to carry food supplies to her daughter in Benin City. The touching encounter, captured in a viral video, has   received   a lot of attention online. The TikTok video, tweeted by @call_me_classique, shows the mother unloading food from her bike upon arrival in town, with her daughter’s thankful aid. The daughter, apparently startled, asks her mother how she managed to ride her bike from the village to Benin City. Court Dismisses Nnamdi Kanu’s N1bn Suit for Alleged Rights Violation Against AGF, DSS

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a N1 billion suit filed by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, against the Federal Government and the Department of State Services (DSS). Justice James Omotoso held that Kanu failed to show evidence that his conversation with his lawyers was bugged by the DSS or that his lawyers were stopped from taking notes from him during the conversation. Justice Omotoso therefore held that there was no evidence before him to show that Kanu was denied a fair hearing as claimed in his suit. Consequently, the court dismissed the suit for lacking in merit. Kanu had, through his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, filed the N1b illion suit marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1633/2023 for the enforcement of his fundamental rights while in detention. A heavily pregnant Nigerian   woman   sparked discussion when she went into labor minutes after posting a video on   TikTok , ultimately losing her   twins . In a video she shared on her TikTok page from her hospital bed, the woman revealed that she had posted on TikTok shortly before going into labor. However, she disclosed that she lost her twins during labor at the hospital. The video carried a caption that better explains the event: “Few minutes after posting on TikTok, labor took place. God, who did I offend? I lost the twins you put in me. I have no joy left in me. Video of female prison officer having sex with inmate inside UK Prison cell goes viral (18+ video)

An x-rated video of a female prison officer having s3x with an inmate inside a UK Prison cell has gone viral. The footage, which has been shared widely online shows the guard having s3x with the prisoner while his cellmate films on a mobile phone. The friend, who is seen smoking while recording, reportedly says: “Guys we’ve made history, this is what I’m telling you” and “this is how we roll in Wandsworth.” It was gathered that the video was filmed in a cell in Wandsworth Prison.  It is not known when the footage, which showed the officer in uniform, was taken, but police are investigating. A Prison Service spokesman said: “Staff corruption is not tolerated and the former prison officer allegedly featured in this video has been reported to the police.
